An Investigation on Unusual Creatures
Greetings fellow readers, and welcome to this compendium! Here is where a variety of unusual creatures present in the Mushroom Verse will be documented. Documentation found here will also include field notes of each species' discovery and observation, done by an enigmatic Shy Guy known as Dalos- aka, me!!.
About the Mushroom Verse
The Mushroom Verse designates the dimension where I had found myself within as of writing. A good majority of its land is ruled by the Mushroom Kingdom (currently unsure as to whether the kingdom knowingly named itself after the Verse or vice versa). However, even the regions left alone by the Kingdom are still quite big. Within these regions contain a vast array of species, a lot of whom are never seen by the public. Which is such a shame, because so many creatures there are so fascinating- not only in their appearances and abilities, but also how said abilities play into their habitats, along with relationships with other species co-existing with them.
Therefore, part of the reason for this catalogue is to bring awareness of the living plants and animals who reside in the untrekked parts of the Mushroom Verse. It just wouldn't be right if they're not at least acknowledged.
About Me
Hello there! As said earlier, my name is Dalos, and I have found myself within the Mushroom Verse as of late. It wasn't on purpose, but I've been enjoying my time here, exploring this world and what it has to offer. I did struggle a bit upon coming here at first, since I'm not used to being independent, but I'm slowly getting used to it, and perhaps through this journey, I'll find out who I truly am.
Along with exploring and cataloguing, I also enjoy hunting, more for the chase than anything. I've also been loving trying out the various foods in this Verse; the regional cuisines are all so amazing, and no two creature species tastes the same! Truly, food is good.
So... what is this? (OOC)
Shy Guy Zoology is a fan project dedicated to writing about the various creatures found in the video game Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, along with sampling inspiration and ideas from other medias as well. Along with creature articles, diary entries are in chronological order, based on the numerical chapters from the source material. These entries are told from the perspective of Dalos, a strange Shy Guy who has taken interest in the various creatures found in these strange places. What new things will he discover throughout his cataloguing... and what will you, the reader, discover about Dalos?
Content Warning: mentions of consuming other creatures, possible dark imagery... this is meant to be a relatively lighthearted project, so nothing too dark, I hope.
